The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) held today a number of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the 2025 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, D.C.
The SDRPY delegation, headed by Assistant General Supervisor Eng. Hassan Al-Attas, met with Regional Director for Human Development in the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan Region at the WBG Fadia Saadah. They reviewed development efforts in Yemen and discussed ways to enhance partnership and cooperation.
The delegation also met with Chief Executive Officer of the Global Partnership for Education Laura Frigenti to discuss opportunities to strengthen partnership and joint cooperation in support of the education sector in Yemen.
The meeting reviewed the SDRPY's development projects and initiatives in the education field, totaling 56 projects and initiatives, including the construction of model schools, development of universities, establishment of colleges and institutes, creation of laboratories, and implementation of capacity-building programs for educational staff. These efforts contribute to improving education quality and expanding learning opportunities across Yemen’s governorates.
The SDRPY's participation in the Annual Meetings of the WBG and IMF comes as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation and partnerships supporting the development process in Yemen, where the program has implemented 265 development projects and initiatives across eight key sectors in various governorates.
The SDRPY collaborates with local, regional, and international partners, including the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). It also works with the WBG on a number of development projects, including the Lifeline Project, which represents an effective and integrated model of international development cooperation and reflects the depth of partnership between the WBG and the SDRPY in supporting sustainable development efforts in Yemen.
